Environment variables map to and override their corresponding values in appsettings.json. When using Docker, configuration settings can be passed to the microservice without modifying its internal appsettings.json file by using environment variables.

The Control Panel generates the encrypted settings necessary to configure the environment variables in the service yaml file. This screen provides each of those settings in turn. Use the Copy to Clipboard button next to each value and paste it in its corresponding environment variable in the service yaml file.
